Blogs get more popular everyday. And through blogs, we see the different uses of it. I have a blog and I use it to share my creative ideas, listen to music and meet new people. Others use blogs whether to entertain, to inform or to persuade people. I put some sites on the given purposes to show how one purpose differ from another.
To Inform : When you are writing to inform, you are presenting information that the reader is interested in. This writing is purely for the sake of information and should avoid bias, opinions, or subjectivity. One site is about celebrity news and opinions about the news. It informs people about recent activities celebrities do.

To Persuade: When writing to persuade the writer tries to convince the reader of a fact or
point of view. Persuasive writing can include reasons that support an idea, or information presented with bias to convince the reader of the writer's view. The site opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/ gives us the freedom of speech; to make an opinion on local news and/or articles throughout the world.

To Entertain: Writing that is designed to entertain creates an emotion in the reader.
Entertaining writing is usually funny, interesting, weird, or even sometimes sad. The text is
created so that the reader will enjoy what is written. These sites show latest release of video games and movies online. It it also shows the description of the games/movies.

I think that your idea of the purpose's of a blog are very good. Though I think there should be more of your idea of what a blog is instead of what it actually is.
